Mediation Services

MEDIATION SERVICES:

Mediation is a structured conversation facilitated by a moderator whose focus is to guide persons in conflict towards mutuality of understanding and achieving an amicable solution/resolution.

  • Self-Referred: Anyone can request a mediation. Generally, these mediations focus on conflict that revolves around family members, friends, or co-workers, who are having trouble communicating or relating with one another.
  • Court-Referred: Wabash County Court refers families and couples to ECR who have disagreements which have impacted their ability to work cooperatively and for whom it is imperative for them to have a working relationship. Some of these participants are divorced parents who share parenting responsibilities.
  • School Attendance Mediations: Endorsed by the Wabash County Court and the Probation Department, in support for their Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative, these mediations, which include the student, parent, and a school administrator, promote improved attendance for students who are at risk of falling behind or dropping out of school.
